WVA Chapter
20 requests your presence at the 2008 National
Women Veterans of America Convention Uniting Women Veterans, The Heart of America The convention will be held on September
12th, 13th, and 14th in Nashville, Tennessee at the Radisson Hotel Opryland
The Keynote Speaker for our convention will be Dr. Irene
Trowell-Harris, Director of the Center for Women Veterans, Department of
Veterans Affairs, Washington, DC. The Center oversees all VA programs for women veterans.
As Director, Dr. Trowell-Harris is the primary advisor to the
Secretary of Veterans Affairs on all matters related to policies,
legislation, programs, issues, and initiatives affecting women veterans.
This is an incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity for women
veterans to hear directly from Dr. Trowell-Harris on the current state
of women veterans programs within the VA on a national level. Even
though the convention is for WVA members, because of the uniqueness of
Dr. Trowell-Harris’s appearance here, WVA is opening the morning
session to ALL
women veterans, regardless of WVA membership.
If you wish to attend Dr. Trowell-Harris’s presentation, there
is NO CHARGE. However, you MUST
pre-register prior to August
13th,
as seating is limited. If
you are not a WVA member and wish to attend Dr. Trowell-Harris’s
presentation AND remain for the buffet luncheon, without attending the
remainder of the convention, there will be a $25 charge.
Again, you MUST
pre-register prior to August
13th.
After
the buffet luncheon, non-WVA members will be excused so that the
official business of the convention can be conducted. For
WVA members, convention registration fees are $50. This
includes the session with Dr. Trowell-Harris, the buffet luncheon, a
women veterans’ information fair, the Saturday afternoon business
meeting, and Sunday’s business meeting and Memorial Service. Convention registration deadline is AUGUST 13th, 2008.
Absolutely no registrations will be accepted after this date. Registration
forms are available here: For
additional convention information, please email wvachapter20@aol.com
Please
share this information with all WVA members as soon as possible so that
they can begin planning now to attend.
This will be a working convention, which will include the
election of new National Officers that will serve as the leadership of
Women Veterans of America for the next two years.
It is important that as many members as possible are in
attendance.
This
is also a fantastic opportunity to find out about the VA’s programs
for women veterans, directly from the Center for Women Veterans.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our members.
